The Dogs
We have three fabulously loving dogs. Female (Fe-Molly), Jolene (after the song) and Madison (she came with that name).
Molly and Jolene came from Eudora. We brought them home July 24, 2003. Their momma was a yellow lab, and their daddy was a roaming German Short Hair Pointer. They were about 4-1/2 weeks old when we brought them home, and about 5-1/2 pounds each. Or maybe I have that backwards. Either way, they’ve grown into beautiful young ladies, and have provided us with an endless source of veterinary emergencies.
Female (aka “Molly”) enjoys snuggling, barking, tail wagging and raw potatoes. She also likes to play the “Pouting Card” and the “Victim Card” and the “I’m sooooo sorry Card” … She enjoys playing with smaller dogs and also likes chasing cats.
Jolene’s favorite past time is injury. If she can try to sever a toe, she’s on it! Cut open her foot? Yes, please! This dog has had more stitches than Rob and Susan put together* – other than that, Jolene likes kisses (she was nicknamed “The Tongue” in her highschool), chasing squirrels and general adventure.
Madison came to us in August of 2009. She is a German Short Hair pointer that spent a year of her life at the Lawrence Humane Society, she’s about 10 years old, and as nutty as can be. She enjoys creek play, fetch and waiting outside the chicken room. She also enjoys excessive barking, treats, snuggling and barking some more. She’s gained 20 pounds since we’ve had her at our house. Oops.
